IFERC Transco Zone 6-NY March index drops $4.05 to $5.64/MMBTU

The US average spot monthly natural gas price for March rose 5 cents to $2.68/MMBtu, Inside FERC's Gas Market Report said Monday.

The NYMEX March gas futures contract expired at $2.894/MMBtu, up 2.8 cents from the February contract's final close of $2.866/MMBtu.

Points in the US Northeast consuming regions moved lower. In New England, Algonquin Gas Transmission city-gates fell 87 cents, or about 8%, to $9.53/MMBtu, while Tennessee Gas Pipeline Zone 6 dropped 44 cents, or 4%, to $9.89/MMBtu.

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Zone 6 New York saw a larger drop, declining $4.05, or 42%, to a $5.64/MMBtu index for March, while Texas Eastern Transmission Zone M-3 tumbled $1.49 to $3.65/MMBtu.

Meanwhile, Dominion, Appalachia, rose 29 cents to $2.04/MMBtu and Tennessee Zone 4-300 leg was up 8 cents to $1.10/MMBtu.

Upper Midwest prices were on the rise, with the Chicago city-gates up 65 cents to $3.67/MMBtu and The Michigan Consolidated Gas city-gate 51 cents higher at $3.47/MMBtu.

Most price points along the Gulf Coast saw smaller increases, with the benchmark Henry Hub in Louisiana rising 3 cents, or 1%, to $2.90/MMBtu, compared with the final NYMEX close of $2.894.

In Texas, prices at the Houston Ship Channel fell 7 cents to $2.74/MMBtu.

To the west, the Southern California Gas index dipped 1 cent to $2.77/MMBtu, while the Pacific Gas and Electric city-gate was at $3.18/MMBtu after a 1-cent increase.

Northwest Pipeline Rocky Mountains slipped 3 cents to average $2.62/MMBtu for March, while Northwest, Canadian border slid 16 cents to $2.40/MMBtu.
