Vale, Samarco, Anglo ship 30.9 million mt iron ore from Brazil in July

Vale, Samarco and Anglo American shipped a combined 30.92 million mt of iron ore products from Brazil in July, up 13.3% from the 27.29 million mt in July 2014, industry group Sinferbase said Thursday.

Vale's domestic shipments in July fell 1.4% year over year to 2.02 million mt, partially offset by an increase of 26% in pellet feeds deliveries to 953,000 mt, while iron ore sales dipped 17.5% to 1.07 million mt.

Neither Samarco, the 50:50 joint venture between Vale and BHP Billiton, nor Anglo America made domestic sales in July, according to Sinferbase's data.

July exports from Vale and its subsidiaries grew 14.3% to 26.02 million mt from 22.75 million mt in the year-ago month, while Samarco's shipments jumped 16.08% to 2.88 million mt from 1.73 million mt a year ago.

Anglo American shipped abroad 1.1 million mt of iron ore in July, from zero exports in the year-ago month. The company made its first shipment from its Brazil Minas-Rio project in October last year.
