US steel sheet market continuing to feel downward pressure

Sparse buying in the US sheet market remained a major concern on Wednesday as pricing was under mounting pressure.
Platts maintained is daily hot-rolled and cold-rolled coil assessments at $430-$440/st and $550-$560/st, respectively. All prices are normalized to a Midwest (Indiana) mill ex-works basis.
Pricing for HRC was heard to be more focused on the lower end of the range at $430/st out of mini-mills.
"A nearby mill told us $430/st was the 'asking' price for small-sized orders this week," a Midwest service center source said. "They readily admitted it's very weak however, with no near-term end in sight."
